HandBrake 0.9.2 is a new version and includes support for the AppleTV Take 2 and the latest iPhone/iPod Touch firmware. Not sure that I like that the mac version is only compatible with Mac OS X Leopard, 10.5. There’s a Windows download too.

Great comparison chart over at joystiq pitting the XBOX and Apple TV together when it comes to entertinament center options (movies, tv, etc.). Of course, the XBox plays video games and DVDs so it’s comparing Apples and Oranges. Personally, I like the fact that AppleTV can sync with my computer and I can watch almost anything with that method. Still considering getting one, and I own an Xbox as well (The Xbox is in my office though and an AppleTV would be great in the family room).

Watching the Macworld San Francisco 2008 Keynote, and Steve Jobs has introduced the Apple TV Take Two. No computer required. Rent movies on Apple TV. DVD quality AND HD + Dolby 5.1. Plus it does the standard podcasts, flickr… also works with the iTunes Move Rental service (have to think if $4.99 for an HD movie is too high, but $3.99 for a new release sounds fair right now). I’ve been wanting to get an Apple TV, and this might be the one.

Macworld 2008 Rumors / Speculations - For my Apple buddies.

I have an iTouch, but some of my friends have an iPhone. Apple shows how to create custom ringtones in GarageBand 4.1.1, and from what i hear that’s big. Of course, you need GarageBand (and a Mac) but it’s a start to legit ringtones.

I don’t usually post this stuff, since i’ll probably never come back to it, but eric just pointed out that one of C|Net’s Top Ten terrible tech products is Microsoft’s Vista.
First off, i’m not an Apple fanboy. I use Windows XP (although I have a mac as a video workstation). My personal experience with Vista started when I bought a laptop a few months ago which CAME PRE INSTALLED WITH VISTA. Vista was (1) slow with just about everything, (2) took forever to reboot or shutdown - longer than my crap-filled XP box, and (3) annoyed me with the constant security alerts. And it’s not because of the laptop either - this baby was $2300+ top of the line laptop. And since i’m not the only one reporting these issues, i’m pretty sure i can’t blame the laptop.
Since Vista is the future, i’m most likely switching to a Mac as my primary machine whenever my XP workstation dies. Sometime in 2008 most likely.
