I have had the same problem as well, at least 2 times.
Both times I was searching “hand tool photoshop” (thus finding this page), but after I clicked on to this page I checked back into Photoshop and it was fixed.

Must be one of those “do stuff and it will fix itself” things.

@Charles - I agree 100%. In my case the theme just won’t ‘take’ and the default non-styled UI is all I see. The lack of end-to-end examples is seriously hurting.

I flew over from London and can’t wait for BarCamp and FOWA Miami. The last FOWA London was an excellent event - fully Carsonified!

Total Hotspots (http://totalhotspots.com) recently launched an iPhone app that provides a new social way of finding Wi-Fi hotspots.

We’ve got Miami well covered both in terms of paid and free locations. The app is available on the app store - just search for “total hotspots” or “wifi”.

The app costs about the price of a beer. If you download it please tweet @ahousley to find me, and if we’re near a bar then I’ll grab you a beer in return for feedback

Also please include the tag “fowa” rates or adds a wi-fi hotspot until the end of FOWA to include.

I might be able to help, If you keep getting the “Hand Tool” On Photoshop CS4, All you really have to do is, Go to the top of the Program, Click “Edit” go down to “Preferences”, Then go to “General”. After you do that, Exit “General” and go back to your project, and the “Hand Tool” will be gone.

This is what I did to make it go away, and hey, It worked, Try it out.

thanks for the article. but like mr old skool and others above, when i went back to try the recommended fixes, it had resolved itself. maybe 3 minutes had passed?

my situation was i’ve used photoshop since v5 release and never saw this problem until cs3 (which i’ve been using for something over a year) today.

i had just captured a screenshot of a website to the Windows clipboard and pasted it in a new, transparent ps3 workspace.

who knows? but thanks for the page.

theres an option on the top left of photoshop, just under “file”, that indicated the hand tool, click it and change it to anything else. It just gets bugged on it thats all.

Just happened to me in CS v8 on Windows XP, opened up task manager as found something like “Adobelmp.exe” open, can’t remember exact spelling because I swatted it and, ta-da, no more stuck hand.

Probably an Adobe update dialog box that was ghosting the program window, possibly related to opening a PDF file directly into Photoshop.
