Don’t take my comments too critically. This is a bookmark for my reference, and I record some facts that pertain to my needs. Applebox does look impressive - and for me it’s a nice proof of concept for even more advanced ideas.

Hi from Melbourne and thanks for noticing APPLEBOX! We are actually a fully operational local DVD store. The iTunes storefront you see delivers live inventory data - if the movie is out, you’ll see an ‘out’ indicator on the movie cover. My customers can rent and reserve a movie online, and then they come down to the store to pick it up.

At the time of development Safari’s XML processing capability was pretty much kneecapped (no XPATH), which has prevented Safari support on a lot of sites that use XML as their data layer (eg Zimbra Mail, Tibco GI clients another). Safari v3 has finally rectified that, so I plan to revisit Safari support soon. And re mobile devies - I need a purpose built UI for that.

And FWIW, I use a J2EE stack, not RoR.
